The Story Behind Wear The Blue: Fashion Meets Conservation
There is a moment that changes everything. For us, it was standing at the edge of the ocean — watching the waves carry in plastic debris, watching the water that should be clear and alive instead carry the weight of decades of careless consumption. That moment became a question: what can we actually do? And the answer became Wear The Blue.
The Problem We Couldn’t Ignore
The fashion industry is the second largest polluter on the planet. It accounts for 10% of global carbon emissions, consumes enormous quantities of water, and floods the world’s oceans with microplastic fibers from synthetic fabrics. Every year, the equivalent of a garbage truck full of textiles is dumped into the ocean every second. The scale of the problem is staggering — but so is the opportunity for change.
We looked at the wardrobes most people own and saw a simple truth: the clothes we wear every day are either part of the problem or part of the solution. There is no neutral ground when it comes to fast fashion and ocean health. We chose to be part of the solution.
Why Streetwear?
Streetwear is more than clothing — it is a cultural language. It is how communities express identity, values, and belonging. We chose streetwear because it reaches people where they are, speaks in a voice that resonates, and has the power to carry a message far beyond what a traditional conservation campaign ever could.
When someone wears a Wear The Blue tee, they are not just wearing a garment. They are wearing a statement. They are starting conversations on the street, at the coffee shop, on the beach. They are making ocean conservation visible in everyday life — and that visibility matters.
The Non-Negotiables
100% Pure Natural Cotton. No synthetic blends. No polyester. No microplastic shedding. Every fiber in every Wear The Blue garment is natural, biodegradable, and ocean-safe.
OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 Certification. Every garment is certified free from harmful chemicals across the entire production chain — a verified, independently audited standard.
Zero-Waste Construction. Our tubular knit construction eliminates side seams, dramatically reducing fabric waste during production and creating a longer-lasting garment.
Eco-Responsible Printing. Our artwork is applied using water-based inks and eco-responsible printing methods — DTG for detailed artwork and DTF for precision crest printing — minimizing chemical runoff.
The Conservation Commitment
Wear The Blue is not just a clothing brand with an environmental message. It is a conservation brand that happens to make exceptional clothing. A meaningful portion of every purchase goes directly toward marine conservation initiatives — organizations and projects working on the front lines of ocean protection, from coral reef restoration to plastic removal and policy advocacy.
We believe in transparency. As we grow, we are committed to publishing clear, public reporting on where conservation funds go and what impact they achieve.
The Artwork
Every design in the Wear The Blue collection tells a story. Our signature blue whale illustrations are rendered in detailed watercolor style — a deliberate choice that honors the beauty and complexity of marine life. The whale is a symbol of the ocean’s grandeur, its fragility, and the urgent need to protect it.
The messages we pair with our artwork — Save The Whales, Protect Our Oceans — are calls to action, worn on the body, carried into the world, and seen by everyone who crosses your path.
Where We Are Going
Wear The Blue is at the beginning of its journey. We are building a brand that will grow into a genuine force for ocean conservation — one that expands its product range, deepens its conservation partnerships, and builds a community of people who share a commitment to the health of our blue planet.
Thank you for being part of this. Every tee you wear, every conversation you start, every purchase you make is a vote for cleaner oceans and a more conscious fashion industry.
Wear The Blue. Protect the blue.
